This is for the candidate to give confirmation that all evidence/documents submitted will be that of the candidate only, and a true reflection of their ability 2. Completion of Teacher/Tutor declaration form (where applicable) a. This is for the teacher/tutor to give an overview of the candidateﾒs ability 3. Submission of Candidate work, evidence, documents a. Candidates or teachers/tutors are to provide as many of the following for the candidate as possible: i. Photo Identification as proof for the learner (showing full name and image) ii. Reports and marked books from tutors, Distance Learning Providers iii. Classwork, notes or any other work completed by learner iv. Previous exam certificates if any (copies) v. Completed exam papers vi. Notes, homework’s showing around 50% of syllabus is covered vii. NEA (Coursework) for specific subjects 4. Mock Examinations a. For candidates working with a school, teacher or tutor, the Mock Examinations are to be completed under exam conditions, marked by tutor, and returned to us b. For self-studying candidates, we will work with you to arrange the completion of Mock exams with us. These will be marked by one of our subject specialists and used to provide a reference and predicted grade for you 5. Summative, Final Assessments a. To ensure that we are able to meet the highest possible standard in providing accurate evidence for our candidates, it is our intention to conduct final exams in as many cases as possible ﾖ to give indisputable evidence of ability b. These will be completed in May and be marked by our subject specialists c. While understanding the circumstances of each private candidate, a varied and flexible approach will be adopted based on whether student home schooled or studied via distance learning method or privately tutored. Where necessary, remote supervision by the centre will be done using software like Zoom to assess the candidate. While accepting pre-existing evidences, due care will be given if the evidences are authentic and reliable. To double check the authenticity, declarations may be sought from the third party assessors or those who mark the evidences. If necessary, the centre will also conduct its own assessment methods such as remote supervision and interviews to establish the authenticity. On a case to case basis, both internal and external quality assurance checks will be made. No previous data or statistical analysis will be applied to assess private candidates. Centre’s appeals process will be followed where necessary. Pre-existing evidences will be accepted from third party with due care along with declarations confirming statements as per JCQ guidelines. Materials provided by Awarding bodies will be used to conduct additional assessments (including verbal) where necessary as against subject specifications. Depending on the source of evidence provided, a relevant JCQ guidance for Centres will be applied.

Existing evidence? Our approach to creating new evidence for private candidates is to first consult with the candidates themselves to understand their situation clearly. This will be achieved through individual remote video meetings such as formal Zoom calls and these calls will be recorded to ensure that all candidates receive the same amount of support. During the Zoom meeting, we will ask candidates a series of questions. We will find out what the candidate has covered during the academic year and what type of support they were given ﾖ whether they were receiving private tuition or studying on their own. We will then ask them which topics they covered for the subject they will be sitting their exam on ﾖ a member of staff will go through each topic to ensure that we understand the situation of the candidate fully. Furthermore, candidates will also be assured about additional support they may require such as extra time. We will also make arrangements for speaking and listening exams where necessary. We will also make candidates aware that we are conducting examinations at our centre and invite them to either attend our centre for their exams, or complete the exam through a Zoom call where they will be monitored throughout. After gathering this data, we will determine whether the candidate is capable of sitting the entire paper (this applies for candidates who have understood and revised the entire content of the syllabus) or whether we are required to provide the candidate with an adjusted paper that includes only the topics they have studied. We will then provide the candidates with a date where they can attend our exam centre to sit the exam. The exam paper which they will complete will either be a full past paper (an unreleased paper which is not available to candidates), or a newly generated paper which includes topics the candidates have studied. The newly generated papers will particular topics will be created with the support of the exam board and our centre will welcome any and all support from the exam board to ensure that all candidates are received fairly. All candidates will be sitting their examinations in May and these exams will be marked and graded as soon as possible. Candidates who have completed assessments with their private tutors and have also completed examinations with our centre will be monitored to ensure there is not a vast difference in their grades. If there is a significant difference, those candidates will be required to sit an additional exam at our centre on the first week of June. For candidates sitting the exams at our centre, we will ensure that they are provided with the correct exam paper which is suited to their ability as well as any other necessary support. The exams will be completed under controlled conditions to ensure that students are not facing distractions during their exam which could impact their grade. For candidates completing exams remotely, we will only make the exam paper accessible for said students 10 minutes prior to the exam. This will ensure that students do not have time to prepare answers for the exam questions. We will ask candidates to enter a Zoom call prior to receiving access to the paper and they will be monitored throughout the process to ensure that they are following the regulations. They will be required to keep their cameras and microphones on at all times to ensure they are not receiving additional support. After the exam is completed, candidates will have 10 minutes to send us a digital copy of their answer paper. They will then have to send the physical copy of the answer paper to us via post and we will ensure that no adjustments have been made. We will then mark the candidateﾒs paper and provide them with a grade. The marking and grading at our centre will be completed straight after the exams are completed in May. The initial assessor will mark and provide the candidates with a grade. Then there will be a grade moderation process for all exams to ensure that the exam papers have been marked and graded accurately. After this, the grades will be provided to the exams officer for a grade validation process where the exams officer will check thoroughly and ensure that all candidates are graded accurately. The exams officer will work alongside the head of centre to ensure that the grades for all candidates have been recorded accurately. Finally, the exams officer will submit the grade to the exam board by June 15th.

Existing evidence? Every private candidate will be expected to register for a mock exam using locked materials from the Awarding Organisation. The mock exam will marked by AO, its associates and/or qualified centre staff. Students must be willing to undergo at least one additional supervised assessment based on AO assessment irrespective of pre-existing evidence. If it is a subject not taught at the centre, the centre will engage third party subject expertise to conduct the marking and assessment process. If the student has no pre-existing evidence, the centre sets an additional assessment based on AO assessment materials, taken under centre supervision using remote invigilation. The centre also sets additional assessments of a different type on topics not covered by the first assessment to ensure they have a good basis for their grade. 3) If a candidate has a tutor or tuition school, the centre will work with the tutor to understand ‘how the private candidate has been studying, what evidence they may have already generated, and how much of the specification content they have covered in their studies.’ The centre will also provide additional training and guidance on any further marking, assessment and remote invigilation for the tutors. Candidates' tutors must agree to abide by the centre’s exam, assessment and remote invigilation policies and sign a non-disclosure agreement to this effect.
